Amos Family

The Amos family adopted two children from foster care. Mr. Amos recently experienced a life-altering accident and is unable to work. Mrs. Amos has always stayed home to care for the children. She is looking for a job and for childcare for the children (with multiple needs and trauma). They are experiencing significant financial strain.

Flores Family

Ms. Flores is a single mother and new to this country. She is raising her two young children. Mrs. Flores stays home with the children. She is taking English classes at a local church and she participates in weekly job training through a partner organization.

Hart Family

Ms. Hart is a single mother to her two children. She aged out of foster care, and returned to an unstable (and unsafe) family situation. She experienced two crisis pregnancies. She has a job. She is trying to create a stable life for her family, but struggles without family or community support.

Barlow Family

The Barlows are currently homeless. They have two children and recently became the guardians for their two nephews. They could not afford daycare costs and Mrs. Barlow had to quit her job to care for the children (which contributed to their eviction). They are living in a motel. Mr. Barlow walks to his job at the nearby gas station. Mrs. Barlow is currently training for a remote job. They are hopeful they will be able to find stable housing in the near future.

Gaskett Family

The Gaskett Family are married and recently had a baby. Mr. Gasket’s sister was incarcerated and they became the legal guardians for her baby. They are struggling financially as their daycare and household costs have doubled, but do not want to see this baby enter the foster care system.

Safi Family

The Safi Family is a resettled family and new to this country. They are raising their two young children and adult newphew lives with them. Mr. Safi and his newphew found work near their home (they must walk to work because they do not have a car). Mrs. Safi stays home with the children. They are taking English classes at a local church.

October Family

Ms. October is the legal guardian for her two younger siblings. Her mother was incarcerated and she did not want her siblings to be placed in the foster care system. She is learning to parent two children, while working full-time. She feels overwhelmed with her new role, but is working hard to build a stable life for her siblings.


Lennon Family

The Lennons are a foster family to three children. The recently said yes to a child with significant trauma. The child requires constant supervision (the Lennons take turns sitting up throughout the entire night, to ensure the child does not injure themselves or others). They are exhausted and discouraged and need support.

Carter Family

Ms. Carter is a single mother to three young children under the age of three. She aged out of foster care without a permanent family, and has no support system. She is currently homeless, but has a job. She hopes to find permanent housing in the next few months and is working to create a stable life for her family.

Shep Family

Ms. Shep is a single mother to her three children. She aged out of foster care without a permanent family, was immediately homeless, and trafficked sometime later. She now has a job and is working on her GED. She is trying to create a stable life for her family, but struggles without family or community support.

Alvarez Family

Ms. Alvarez is a single mother to her three young children. She moved here as a child, but her parents had to leave the country. She is isolated and alone, with no family support. She currently works and attends online training, but struggles to afford daycare and basic necessities for her children.

Jude Family

Mrs. Jude is a single mother to her three young children. She aged out of foster care without a permanent home. She wants to take community college classes to pursue a job in healthcare, but without family support, she struggles to afford childcare. She feels stuck working minimum wage jobs, barely able to afford rent and basic necessities.

Perez Family

Ms Perez is a single mother to her five young children. She moved here as a child, but her mother and grandmother had to leave the country. She is isolated and alone, with no family support. She currently works two jobs, but struggles to afford daycare and basic necessities for her children.

Adams Family

Ms. Adams is a single mother to her five young children. She aged out of foster care without a permanent family and was homeless for years. She was trafficked and finally escaped. She is studying for her GED and hopes to get a job in healthcare next year. She is working to create a stable life for her family.

Loez Family

Ms. Loez is a single mother to her five children. She recently experienced a crisis pregnancy. She has a good job, but feels the financial strain of affording daycare and diapers. She confesses to skipping meals and eating less to ensure her children are getting enough to eat.

Harris Family

Ms. Harris is a trafficking survivor and single mother to four young children. She is struggling to pass her GED and feeling discouraged. She wants a better job to provide a more stable home for her family.

Gatlin Family

Ms. Gatlin is a single mother to twin babies. She is an abuse survivor and recently moved from a shelter to her first apartment. She hopes to enroll in community college next year and intends to get a job in education. She is working hard to build a safe life for her family.

Moralez Family

The Moralez Family is a resettled family and new to this country. They are raising their three young children and nephew. Mr. Moralez found work near their home (he must walk to work because they do not have a car). Mrs. Moralez stays home with the children. They are taking English classes at a local church and are saving to purchase a family car.

Pierce Family

Ms. Pierce is a single mother to five children. She was diagnosed with cancer and cannot work while undergoing treatment. She is struggling to afford rent and basic necessities. She is worried she’ll lose housing if she’s not able to work soon.

Tala Family

Ms. Tala is a single, kinship provider for her three nieces. She has a job, but is struggling financially to afford daycare. She does not want to see her nieces enter the foster care system.

Beck Family

Ms. Beck is a single mother to her five young children. She spent years in kinship care with various family members. Her parents struggled with addiction. She is studying for her GED and hopes to get a job in healthcare. To attend school, she must depend on her unstable parents and her elderly grandparents for help babysitting her children. She is working to create a stable life for her family.

Castillo Family

Ms Castillo is a single mother to her five young children. She moved here as a child, but her parents had to leave the country. She is isolated and alone, with no family support. She currently works two jobs, but struggles to afford daycare and basic necessities for her children.

Gray Family

Ms. Gray is a single mother to her five young children. She aged out of foster care without a permanent family and spent years in an abusive relationship. She escaped and currently lives in a motel. She has a job and is working to create a stable life for her family.

Wilson Family

Ms. Wilson is a single mother to her five young children. She aged out of foster care without a permanent family and was trafficked sometime later. After years in trafficking, she escaped. She has a stable job and is studying for her GED. She is working to create a stable life for her family.

Dawson Family

Ms. Dawson is a single mother to her five young children. She aged out of foster care, and without any options, moved home. Her parents struggled with addiction. Ms. Dawson is in an intensive apprenticeship program, but must depend on her unstable parents for help babysitting her children. She is working to create a stable life for her family.

Torrez Family

Ms. Torrez is a single mother and new to this country. She has three young children, all under the age of two. Mrs. Torrez stays home with the children and is taking English classes (and teaching it to the children). She is working with a local organization that offers job training and hopes to obtain a job soon.

Malen Family

Ms. Malen experienced a life-altering accident, which left her a widow and single mother to three young children. She is in multiple therapies and unable to return to her past job. She is training for a virtual position which would allow her to work from home. She is working hard to rebuild her life for her young family.

Beckett Family

Ms. Beckett is a single mother to her five young children. She experienced frequent bouts of homelessness and housing instability as a child. She was later trafficked by a family member. After years in trafficking, she escaped. She has a stable job and is studying for her GED. She is working to create a stable life for her family.

Ford Family

The Ford Family is a kinship family to five young children, under the age of four. The biological parents struggle with addiction and are unable to safely parent their children. Mrs. Ford is currently raising her five grandchildren. She is retired, but is currently looking for a job to help with expenses.

Hayes Family

Ms.Hayes is a single foster parent. She currently cares for three children with significant needs. Ms.Hayes juggles her job and all the therapies and appointments for each of the children. She has picked up extra shifts at work to ease the financial burden. She wants to adopt the children, but is worried she cannot afford to care for them without extra support.
